The Transformation of an Online Business

Over the past several years, I have owned and operated my online business, AngelQ Expressions. My primary goods are handmade jewelry and accessories. I have branched out with handpainted wares, as well as bath and body products. Recently, I decided to downsize and focus on more of the creating process, so I closed up my IKinRead Designs shop and Women's Wit on Etsy. For those of you who enjoyed those oddities, do not fret. They will make their reappearance in my AngelQ Expressions shop soon enough.

I have also opened up shop on ArtFire, because as the saying goes, "Never put all of your eggs in one basket.". This gives me the opportunity to find out for myself how much promoting and marketing actually pay off. So far, I am seeing positive results. People come to my shop because of my shop. My venue is just that...a venue. Trying to compete with literally hundreds of thousands of handmade shops is not an easy task. I try to be true to myself and what I do. And I believe my customers appreciate it.

I truly enjoy the creative process. I am thrilled knowing that what I make is being worn and loved all over the world, from the US to the UK, Netherlands, Romania, and beyond! I am a sucker for the paranormal. I love Supernatural and all things Winchester. I design jewelry and accessories that you may never find in your average joe department store -- and that's the whole point. Showing your individuality. Be who you are. When all is said and done, the label on the inside of your trousers doesn't really matter. It's the really cool person that is wearing it that counts.

So, I continue to do what I do and love it just the same. No complaints on this end. This is a wonderful time in my business where I can have the freedom to create pieces that I love and just happen to have customers who love them too. For that, I am truly grateful. Onward to my muse. Oh, what wonderful things she has in store!

Nacreous Alchemy brings a little darkness to the domestic with truly unique Gothic Home Décor and Accessories. Michelle Marrero, owner and artist of this new shop, likens her style to "Disturbed Innocence Meets Fractured Fairytales". Michelle is not new to the artists' scene. The beauty of the church has remained a significant aspect of her creative nature, which she now combines with her instinctual gothic touch.

The Poetic Life of Cleo Griffith

Poetry is alive and well in Modesto, just ask Cleo Griffith! She is the Chair of the editorial board for Song of the San Joaquin, a quarterly poetry publication currently in its sixth year. Both seasoned and aspiring writers from all over the United States have been included in this publication, which makes the Song of the San Joaquin a unique voice in the literary world. Cleo is also active in the Modesto Culture Commission, where she is liaison to the Modesto Poet Laureate, as well as organizer for the monthly poetry contest sponsored by California Federation of Chaparral Poets.

Cleo's love for writing began with her early years of reading. She always knew she wanted to be a writer and pursued this passion throughout her life. Her education includes two years of pre-Journalism at Portland State, as well night classes and informal groups. After retiring in 2000, she not only found the time needed to write, she also discovered a wonderful community of poets in the Modesto area. She has been honored with the 2004 Golden Pegasus Award for best poem in the CFCP Inc. Annual Contest and the 2008 Stanislaus Arts Council Excellence Arts Award in Literature. In nine years, Cleo has had over 500 poems published in various journals. And she hasn't slowed down.

According to Cleo, her inspiration comes from, "just about anything and everything." Her family and friends, news reports, even the homeless people on the streets, have been the subjects of many of her works. She currently resides in Salida, CA, with her husband, Tom, and has three children: Tom in Sachse, TX, Elizabeth in Tracy, CA, and John in Livermore, CA.

Elise Osner periodically reinvents herself. Her past careers include teaching dance, flutist and flute teacher, and Balloon Pilot in her balloon ride company. She also has a college education in Social Psychology with a long time interest in health and wellness. When it came time to choose a new career, becoming a Homeopath was a natural transition.

Her journey with Homepathy began several years ago. Suffering from a hand injury, she tried several different treatments and medications with little result, until a friend suggested seeing a Homeopath. Transformational Wellness for the New Year

Kelley Giaramita, a Wellness and Communications Consultant, has quite the extensive background in both clinical and alternative health. Her vocational journey began in 1983, with her nursing career and newly discovered love for teaching. She educated medical assistants, as well as nursing students with roles varying from clinical instructor to director. In 1989, she expanded her health career by incorporating holistic care in the form of massage therapy. She also received training from the International Harp Therapy Program in 1997. In 2003, she began instructing Nonviolent Communication(NVC) to nurses and others seeking a language supporting well-being. She continues educating others with NVC and has included Resonance Repatterning training to transform their thought processes to positive, life-serving choices.

She has facilitated many workshops using the Transformational Wellness Wheel, which applies aspects of physician and psychology works to create a more balanced life through changing our communication model. She also combines yoga with harp therapy called Compassionate Communication: Yoga by Candlelit Harp, as well as instructing Empathy courses in the medical field.

She recently made the I am Yoga Wellness Studio in Turlock the meeting place for her new group, The Central Valley American Holistic Nurses Association, which emphasizes a support system through holistic care in maintaining well-being and preventing burn out. She will be hosting her first AHNA meeting of the new year on January 5, 2009 from 11:00am-1:00pm. Formally schooled with a Masters degree in Business Management, Linda Ohlson of O Jewelry considers herself to be an artist, first and foremost, with her current focus on the three-dimensional form of jewelry. Her interest in art started in her high school years. Although her intention to attend an art school never came to fruition, she decided to learn on her own. She enrolled in jewelry classes at MJC in 2001, where she learned to fabricate and cast(using the lost wax method) in both gold and silver. Her education is constantly evolving and continues to this day.

"What inspires me? Everything inspires me!" says Linda, crediting her creativity from abstract forms in light and shadows to the simple beauty in nature.
